Professional shuffleboard comes to Knoxville, with the Knoxville Drift

Posted on September 17, 2011 by Ima Jeane Poole

Joining the recently announced Knoxville Nighthawks indoor football team is the Knoxville Drift. The Drift is part of the International Shuffleboard Association (ISA).

The Drift will share the Knoxville Convention Center as their home arena with the Nighthawks, alternating nights.

Shuffleboard has been growing in popularity with the increasing number of baby boomers. The low physical requirements make it the perfect game for all ages. There is talk of adding a secondary league based on the miniaturized tabletop version.

Tryouts for the Drifters Cheer squad will take place at Shannondale Retirement Home.

NOTE: Knoxville hopes to have members of their inaugural team inducted into the highly prestigious National Shuffleboard Hall of Fame. Recruiting so far has been highly competitive.
