The new downtown loft concept being tested. |
Knoxpatch.com has learned that a new loft concept is being developed and tested for use in downtown Knoxville. According to conceptualist Ron Baxter, these new units can be placed around town, on top of existing buildings or even on sidewalks or in Krutch Park, with little or no footprint. “This is the most versatile housing ever developed for a downtown environment. Each unique home can be placed anywhere at a low cost. And it will satisfy the suburbanite’s need to have an individual unit to live in,” said Baxter. The city has reportedly orderd 1500 units for delivery sometime next fall, and reports the waiting list is growing daily. Although expected to be a hit with students, analysts predict a flood of suburban residents to the downtown area once the units are in place.
