Knoxville resident Eugene Grainger is trying to blow the world’s largest bubble. So far, he has only succeeded in blowing the world’s third largest bubble. The record is held by Ernestine Churchill of Kensington, England, who blew a bubble 15.2 feet in diameter. The number two spot is filled by Johnny Newberry of somewhere in rural Maine, with 14.4 feet. Grainger’s record is 11.3 feet, but a gust of wind destroyed it before it got bigger. He expects to achieve his goal by sometime next year.
