Valdez, before his snake extraction procedrue. |
While on a House Mountain nature walk with his family Saturday afternoon, Juan Valdez stopped to rest. Just as he initialized a yawn of great magnitude, a snake dropped from a tree limb and right into the path of Juan’s yawn. As the snake entered his mouth, he simultaneously coughed and snorted in surprise, thereby causing the snake’s tail to be shot out through his nose. Not knowing what to do and noticing the snake seemed to have no intentions of biting, they hiked back to their car and drove to a nearby medical clinic for treatment. Dr. Homar Sareef was on duty and extracted the snake without wounding either patient. “That was quite a surprise,” explained Valdez. “Not since the time I ate Cheerios while listening to Emo Philips has anything shot out my nose like this.”
